1. What is Bimatoprost?

  • Bimatoprost is a prescription-strength solution that is used to stimulate the eyelashes to grow longer, thicker and darker by prolonging the growth phase of the hair.

  • Results will start to be noticeable after about 4 weeks, with full results being visible in about 14 weeks.

2. How do I use Bimatoprost?

  • Before applying Bimatoprost at night, make sure your eyes are clean and free of makeup and contact lenses are removed.

  • Place one drop of Bimatoprost on the end of your application brush.

  • Immediately draw the applicator carefully along the skin at the base of the upper eyelashes from the inner to the outer part of your lash line like you would apply eyeliner.

  • Repeat steps with your other eye

  • Do not apply to your lower lashes

  • I like to use the leftover solution on the brush on my eyebrows

  • There is no benefit to applying more than once a day.

  • **Pro-tip: use a small eyeliner brush for application rather than the applicators it comes with. The applicators are hard to work with and suck up a lot of the solution. Check out my Instagram for how-to videos.

3. Reminders

  • Apply daily for 14-16 weeks. Do not reduce or stop application when you first notice results. Once you achieve maximum results, you can reduce your use to every other day or every third day to maintain.

  • If you miss a dose, you don't need to play "catch-up". Just apply the dose as usual the next day.

  • It is possible for hair growth to occur on other areas of your skin Bimatroprost frequently touches. Only apply to lash line.

  • While you will want to blot any excess solution beyond the eyelid with a tissue, it will not cause harm if the product gets in your eyes.

  • If you stop using Bimatoprost, your lashes will gradually return to their previous appearance.

4. Side Effects

  • Very rarely patients experience a reversible darkening of the skin on the eyelids. It will fade back to its normal pigment after discontinuing product.

  • There is a theoretical risk of darkening the iris (colored part) of the eye, although this has never actually been reported with Bimatoprost used for eyelash enhancement. About 1-2% of patients who used a much higher concentration of Bimatoprost drops placed directly into their eye to treat their glaucoma experienced a darkening of their iris with prolonged use.

  • The most common side effects are a temporary itching sensation in the eyes, which were reported in about 4% of patients during clinical trials.

how to Bimatoprost

There is no holy grail of anti-aging, but retinoids are pretty darn close!

How does Tretinoin (a retinoid) work?

  • Also known as topical Vitamin-A, Tretinoin is a stellar wrinkle-fighter

  • It promotes collagen growth beneath the skin, diminishing wrinkles overtime

  • It improves skin's texture and tone by increasing cell turnover and lightening dark spots

  • It can help get rid of acne by unclogging pores

How do I apply my Rx cream?

  • Apply one large pea-sized amount to your face nightly

  • It can be helpful to get even administration by pumping the cream onto your finger, dotting the cream in several places around your face, and then rubbing it in

  • Be patient! Full results do not happen overnight. Expect full results in 3-6 months.

What are the possible side effects of Tretinoin?

  • The most common side effects are redness, dryness, and flaking - especially when you first start

  • Although Tretinoin does not cause sun sensitivity, the fresh new skin you'll have from increasing your cell turnover may burn easier

What can I do to decrease side effects of Tretinoin?

  • Our skincare cream is made with a mild steroid that will help reduce the side effects of Tretinoin

  • If you are a retinoid newbie, it is highly recommended that you use your new cream slowly at first. Begin with every third night x 1 week, then every other day x 1-2 weeks, then daily as tolerated

  • If you still experience skin irritation, try the "sandwich" method - apply moisturizer first, then your Rx cream, then another layer of moisturizer

  • Apply your cream to a dry face - wetness can increase penetration

  • Avoid using other potentially irritating products such as benzoyl peroxide while your skin is getting use to your new cream

Can I increase the strength of my Tretinoin?

  • Once your have used your Tretinoin for 1-2 months without irritation, it may be time to increase the strength of your Tretinoin. Let me know when you request a refill that you would like to increase the strength.
